I'm Running Out of Names For Posts

I'm going camping tomorrow! Yippee!

The family ward are all going out to a campsite near Salem for the annual family campout. I was in charge of dinner, so I decided to marinate tiny pieces of steaks for steak kabobs! I found a marinate sauce online, and I decided to try it out! It involves soy sauce, lemon juice, pepper, garlic, liquid smoke, and Worcestershire sauce. It smelled yummy, so hopefully it tastes good as well!

For dessert, we are going to make campfire cones! You take a waffle cone, spread peanut butter on the inside, and put in pieces of bananas and chocolate chips and marshmellows, wrap the cone in tin foil, and cook it in coals for 5-10 minutes. It sounds delicious, so I'm a bit excited!

My very messy bedroom
I also enjoy camping simply because I get to play with all the little kiddos I babysit all at one place, and last year I brought my nail polish (yeah, I know..) and I painted all the little girl's nails while the parents set up and took down the tents! It is pretty fun.

To keep me busy, I've just been watching Netflix (I have no social life), and preparing the food and such. I also decided I need to clean my room sometime soon, but I decided to take a nap and clean the gerbil cage afterword's. It's always an enjoyable experience interacting with my pet gerbils, because lately I have had a distinct love for all furry or feathery animals. My dad advised that I look into becoming a vet, which would be awesome, but the problem with that is that I would not be able to handle any surgery or blood or pee or gross stuff like that...I'd just want to play with the cute animals and hand them over to someone else when they get sick.
PS. did you know that they have Animal Rescue shelters specifically for Gerbils? And that in England they host Gerbil Shows? (similar to a cat or dog show).

Methos I think is the funniest, he has gotten very plump, and when you hold  him you can literally feel a fat-density difference from the other two gerbils (even though Franklin is very chubby as well). Whenever I clean their cage, I put all 3 of them in the dust bath together, but when it's time to get out Methos likes to stay in there as long as possible. I think it's because he enjoys the alone time without his brothers! Haha!

I know that I sound like a crazy gerbil lady, but these are the only pets I have owned that didn't live in a fish bowl. I've wanted a cute cuddly animal sense I was about 5, and now that I have them I am definitely Not wasting the opportunity to enjoy them as much as possible! (I just hope my little brother takes good care of them while I am off at college, otherwise I would take them with me)

July Sucks

So I started off this month by getting food poisoning from some Nachos that I ate at the movie theater. It sucked. I was only puking my guts out for about five hours, but that made my body super week and not really functional for the rest of the week, making the 4th of July very painful and groggy.
My mom originally thought it was the stomach flu, but I disagreed. Just to be safe, we put our 3 pet gerbils back in my little brothers room away from the germs that I produced while sitting on the couch, it made me sad to see them being shunned to the back of the house!

But on brighter news! My gerbils are finally starting to run on their exercise wheel! For a while I didn't put the wheel in the cage at all because all they would do is tip it over and chew on it, yet I saw online that if you hung the wheel up-side-down, so it was hovering over the ground and hanging from the lid of the cage, the gerbils will be more curious and use it properly. They are starting to get more exercise now because of it! Yippee!

I can tell snowy is getting old though, he is thinner than the other two gerbils, and as you can see in the picture, he sleeps a lot. sometimes he even shakes when he stands up on his hind legs. Poor little guy.

Burnedd

So yesterday was the hottest day yet in the 2013 year, in the Portland area that is. It hit 90 Degrees. So naturally my friend and I wanted to whip out the tanning oil and get some color! Well...that clearly backfired.

One of the perks of growing up in the Portland Metro Area is that my skin has very little experience being in direct sunlight. So, we fried. Literally. I am already halfway through the bottle of Aloe Vera After-Sun Gel, and it's only my 2nd day.

So while I stayed inside, avoiding as much direct sunlight as possible, I worked on more college stuff. I figured out my finances, and of course while doing so I made myself even more anxious for college. I have 76 days until move in day, and that seems like forever....

Keeping Busy While Impatiently Waiting...

So yesterday morning I had the pleasant experience of waking up before the sun did, in order to register for my 2013 Fall semester classes (registration started at 5:00am). The best part was that I woke up at 2:30am unable to fall back asleep because 1. my allergies are killing me and I couldn't breathe through my nose and 2. I was anxious about which classes I would be able to get into or not.

Luckily I have a great aunt who lives nearby, and last week I went over to her house and she showed me how to prepare as much as possible for registration! She has 3 kids and they have all gone through the college registration process, so I look at her as kind of a pro. She showed me how to use ratemyprofessor.com and how to have backup plans in case anything goes wrong!

What I did not expect was that I was only allowed to take a certain amount of foundations courses my first semester. I had already signed up for Book of Mormon, Science, and English, so when I went to sign up for Math I realized I couldn't because my limit was up. So I dropped my science class for my Math because, let's be honest, I want to get my math classes out of the way. I also signed up for General Psychology and Introduction to Visual Arts! My earliest class starts at 9:00am, and the latest I get out of class is 1:45! Even though I couldn't take my science class, I am extremely happy with my first semester schedule. A huge shout out to my aunt who helped me!!

The bad thing is, now that I am all set up and ready to go, waiting even more is literally killing me. I just want to pack all my things in my room and go to school. Perhaps this is the Lord's way of testing my patience, but regardless, it's still painful sitting around doing nothing---

Well, I guess I shouldn't say nothing. I have a few projects to do this summer to keep me busy when I'm not babysitting! Our family friends who live in Florida asked me to paint a picture of a sea turtle for their daughter, and they are willing to pay me for it as well! I feel so honored! And my cousin asked me to paint a picture of an elephant (her favorite animal) for her apartment at college. I'd so rather paint and babysit than have a real job this summer, so I'm a happy camper overall! (that is, when I'm not thinking about how long I have to wait to go to college).

Just Some Updates

It's been a while sense I posted  in this, whoops!
That's me on the far right, the chubbiest one of the bunch!
Well, for one I have officially graduated high school! Something I've been excited for sense the first day of freshman year!! Yay!! I have been searching for jobs, kinda, to keep me busy during the summer. But I think I want to stick with babysitting for now. Lots of people would like me to babysit on a semi regular basis, and I'd much rather get paid to play with kids than to find some boring real-persons job.
Also, thanks to all the graduation parties and late-night hangouts, my sleep schedule is officially screwed up. Today was the 2nd day in my life that I have ever slept in until 12 (the first day being last Saturday when I woke up at 2).
I also really need to get serious about eating healthy/working out more. I keep seeing pictures of myself on Facebook that people tagged me in this last week, and holy crap I am one chubby girl! I promised myself that I would start today, cross your fingers in hopes I'll stay committed!

Already?

So I'm already falling out of the habit of posting on my blog -__- fail! But I remembered, so I'm actually putting in effort this time! I only have about 7 more days of school left, then I graduate! Ahh!

I'm so excited. Actually I'm just excited to be that much closer to going to college. I already have one giant suitcase packed (which I bought myself, along with all my other college supplies. I'm so independent) so the pain of waiting another 3 1/2 months is actually killing me. I'm trying to keep myself busy, like today for example, I looked on Pinterest.com and decided to do a little art project (unfortunately, it only took me 30 minutes.) so I'm probably just going to do another one when I'm done with this.
I have also been trying to mark my scriptures with all the scripture masteries! I haven't used my scriptures my parents got me when I was 8 for a long time, so I'm trying to get them all marked up (like my seminary scripture set) before I head off to college. Yesterday I spent a solid hour marking the New and Old Testament scripture masteries, and when I was done I wanted to claw my eyes out. So I have the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants to do today. Well. That is the update. I'm already bored with this whole blog thing, my attention span really does need some work..

Exhaustion

So, I just got back from my youth temple trip and I loved it. I have not been there for over a year due to conflicting school and work schedules, and now that I was able to go I feel so refreshed. I truly have missed being inside that beautiful white building. I saw a duck sitting on the water font outside of the temple and it just made me so happy.

Secondly, I have had a few epiphanies lately. #1. I hate carnivorous animals. I don't like animals that feel the need to eat other animals (I know, I'm a hypocrite simply by being human) but still. I think it's because I have a deep love for cute animals like bunnies, squirrels, puppies, birdies, gerbils...Not sharks, bears, lions, cheetah's, etc. I don't know, I wish we were like in the story of Narnia where all the animals lived together peacefully and everyone got along. I also wish it was easier being a vegetarian. I can resist red meat quite easily (except for bacon) yet when it comes to fish or sushi, its surprisingly more difficult than expected.

#2. taking allergy medicine and not falling asleep is a terrible idea. terrible. idea. I felt so bad, I must have looked like death all day at the youth activity, because I was so out of it. I swear I'm not fully conscious as I'm writing this. Oh well, I'll get a good night's sleep tonight--plus I don't have class until 11:00 so I get to sleep in! Yay!

#3. I can't type anymore due to the exhaustion of my fingers. Good day.
